Hi, I’m Kelly, and I’m a maker….
I love making things, I always have. As a kid it started with making a mess, learning how things were made, and evolved into embracing creativity, and embrace it I do.
Myself and my partner both love camping, only downside is I’m a massive fidget, and as inspiration strikes at the most inopportune moments, one must be ready to get those ideas out at a moments notice. This has in the past meant I’ve cut and sewn up a backpack in the middle of summer, parked up in a field running off solar power! I also enjoy attending the local craft club to learn new tips and techniques.
I really like using materials that feel nice, like soft faux leather vinyls and heavy cotton canvas. Working out how to add extra pockets to bags is a really fun challenge as well, so I can make the zips a feature. I have some really cool ones waiting to be used! All my sewing is done on my trusty Janome M200QDC. It still doesn’t have a name so if you have any good suggestions, let me know.
Being a small business, its important to me to support fellow small businesses wherever possible. Nearly all of our materials, especially the fabric, is sourced with this in mind. Being a keen gardener who’s into composting, using packaging that can be popped into the compost bin or recycled was really important too.
It’s so exciting to bringing other peoples ideas to life. Some of my favourite makes so far have been custom orders for people. Don’t forget to check out the “Commissions” section to see some of the previous makes for people!
The rest of the “team” consists of our CEO (Cat Executive Officer), Bear and new arrival, Intern Fauna. She has taken over from Chibi who sadly passed away in March 2024. Their role is to do regular checks of Quality Control, and make sure everything is completed in a timely fashion so I don’t miss dinner time. Bear also likes to do freelance paper shredding. Their favourite thing to do in the sewing room is to find the best rainbows shining from our window clings, and bask in rainbowy goodness.
Unofficially, we can’t forget my partner Magnum, who makes sure I’m well hydrated and have adequate snacks. Being creative himself, he’s really good at helping to come up with new ideas, and helps a lot with the website.
